Shelter Afrique, the only pan-African finance institution that exclusively supports the development of the housing and real estate sector in Africa, Bijou Homes over the weekend to discuss the prospects of the ultra-modern urban building project within Apollonia City.
The event which was held at the Bijou Homes project site within the Apollonia City development in Oyibi, is to further engage Shelter Afrique for funding to scale up the development to meet the needs of the rapidly growing urban population in Ghana.
Bijou is intended to provide Ghanaian residents the benefits of an affordable housing units with high-quality infrastructure including tarred roads, ICT network with integrated security systems, schools, clinics, open green space and shops. In his welcome address, Project Supervisor of Bijou Mr. Edward Nyarko, explained that the housing facility all aimed at simplifying comfortable settlements in Ghana. We tested the viability of this project with 100 units of three home kinds; one bedroom expandable, two-bedroom expandable and terrace. “I’m happy to tell you that within the first year of construction, we have sold over 60 percent of it for habitable owners”, he said.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Shelter Afrique, Mr. Andrew Chipondah explained that Shelter Afrique has been building strategic partnerships and offers a host of products and related services to support the efficient delivery of affordable housing and commercial real estate. “Understanding the development process and timeline helps us get a clear map when building a real estate project finance model. That is why we have heeded to the invitation of Apollonia Development Company Limited to come see for ourselves the commendable work being done for the Bijou Homes project’’, he said.
Shelter Afrique took a tour of the community and visited some key infrastructure sites within the enclave. Mr. Bright Amofa, CEO of Apollonia City reaffirmed his hope that with the support from Shelter Afrique they can deliver quality the affordable housing and private housing solution that meets the needs and financial capacity of the Ghanaians and foreigners.
